Even though April is almost over I wanted to bring to light Autism Awareness Month.
I am the mother of an autistic child and I love to share new and exciting info and events that cater to families with an autistic child/children.
Did you know AMC movie theaters have partnered with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings specifically for children with sensory issues? AMC wants to share a special movie experience for Autistic children where they turn the lights up, and turn the sound down, so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing! Their Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly).
I took my son to the movies for the FIRST TIME and we went to see a sensory friendly screening of Dumbo. It was great! He was free to enjoy the movie and the sound wasn’t too loud for him either. I HIGHLY recommend for families. I have been so nervous to take my son to the movies for the longest and this made our first time movie experience more comfortable.
